Best Holiday Gifts for New Moms in 2020

Posted by Jane Springston on

From the extremely useful to giving her exactly what she needs to feel like herself, we’ve put together a list of 11 of our favorite gifts that any new mom would be excited to receive for the holidays.

Holiday Gifts to Make Mom Life Easier

When giving a gift to a new mom, it can be hard to decide if it’s better to choose a present that’s just for her or if it would be better to gift something that’s going to simplify her day-to-day parenting. It’s tough for us to say, too, but we do know that she will be incredibly thankful to have each of these parenting hack gifts to make life as easy as possible with a little one.

1.) The Baby’s Brew Portable Bottle Warmer

Warming a baby bottle on the go is often a messy and frustrating endeavor. New parents have to ask for a bowl of warm water or hunt up a bathroom in which to run the bottle under hot water...neither of which are close to ideal. Having a portable bottle warmer is such a lifesaver for new parents. We love the Baby’s Brew because it’s completely reliable at getting a baby’s bottle of formula or breastmilk to the perfect temperature no matter when baby gets hungry. Since we all know that babies are anything but patient, this is a great gift to give the new mom so that she actually feels comfortable leaving the house with baby in tow.

Read “Best Portable Baby Bottle Warmers of 2020” to find out why the Baby’s Brew topped our list.

2.) The bökee

Prepping bottles sounds easy enough, but it’s actually tougher than you’d think when you actually have to care for a baby simultaneously. Since babies require so much care and attention, moms often find themselves needing to do tasks one-handed while holding their baby. That includes bottle-making. This one-handed bottle prep accessory makes it easy to prep a bottle with one hand without having to worry about risking spills (or otherwise putting down their hangry baby to make one.)

3.) Dreamland Baby Weighted Sack

Though we can’t read the new mom’s mind that you’re buying a gift for, we’re willing to be the one wish she’d make this Christmas this year would be for more sleep. It’s no secret that new moms are sleep deprived since babies often need to eat around the clock. One thing that can help her baby to start sleeping more soundly is the Dreamland Baby Weighted Swaddle or Sack. The light, quilted weighting of these wearable blankets have shown to increase melatonin and serotonin which helps to calm and relax babies. The swaddle transitions to a sleep sack and is best for babies 0 - 6 months, or if the baby is a bit older, opt for the 6 - 12-month size

The Dream Weighted Sack also made our list of Top 5 Baby Products of 2020.

4.) Slumberpod

While we’re on the subject of helping the new mom and dad get more sleep, this next gift is all about helping the new parents get more sleep while traveling. The Slumberpod is the perfect way to recreate the dark and quiet environment that baby has become accustomed to at home. This product is designed to work with any travel crib, mini-crib or select toddler cots - because it’s bottomless it just fits right over the top of what your baby is used to sleeping in on the go. If you’re buying for a mom who is often traveling to visit family or vacations a lot, this is must-buy gift.

5.) Busy Baby Mat

Easy portability is just so necessary with a new baby which is why we have another on the go convenience gift to wrap up this portion of our holiday gift guide. Babies are able to sit up in high chairs around 6 months of age. Which means if you’re wanting to eat out with your baby, you better have something to entertain them while you hurry up and wait for your food to come. Which is where the Busy Baby Mat comes in. Not only does it provide a sanitary space for baby to eat, but the connectors allow mom and dad to attach their baby’s favorite toys to keep them, well, busy! Eating out with a baby can be exhausting, but giving them something to do makes it so much more enjoyable.

Holiday Gifts Just for the New Mom

We guarantee that the new mom will love any parenting hack gift you give her to make parenting a new baby a bit easier. But this is also the perfect time to make her feel pampered amidst a very busy (and likely) exhausting time in her life. Bring a little calm to her life with one of the following gifts just for her!

1.) Ultimate Lavender Spa Basket

One of the first things I loved to do after I got my baby down for nighttime was take a long, hot bath. It’s one of the best ways to destress after a busy day of putting a little person’s needs before your own. This lavender scented spa basket gives the new mom the ultimate relaxing experience she needs to unwind before finally crawling into bed for the night. And chances are she’ll be up feeding her baby within a few hours, so this will help her fall asleep sooner so she can maximize her sleeping time before her baby alarm clock wakes her up at midnight.

2.) Everly Gray Loungewear Nursing Set

This gift is an especially great holiday gift for a new mom who recently gave birth or is about to. So much time is spent nursing in those first few months during maternity leave that getting dressed in regular clothes is usually saved for the times you actually have to leave the house. Except, she still wants to look cute! We love the sets from Everly Gray because they’re completely practical for a nursing mom, but are also stylish and comfortable. This particular set is just for mom, but there are also matching sets available for both mom and baby.

3.) UGG Scuffette II Slipper

A new mom experiencing babyhood in the winter deserves extra warmth and coziness. These UGG slippers are perfect because they slip right on for when she has to hurry down to her baby’s room for that early morning feeding. This way she’ll be able to skip feeling those chilly floors on the way. If you’re just not sure exactly what the new mom likes, slippers are always a safe choice. Plus, she’ll be able to continue using these high-quality slippers long after she’s out of the new mom stage.

4.) Daily Harvest Custom Gift Box

It can be hard for a new mom to find time throughout the day to make satisfying and nutritious meals. Bringing dinners to the new parents or giving them gift cards for take-out is always helpful, too, but we know the new mom will appreciate a healthy and hot breakfast or lunch to look forward to when she is home during the day with her baby (or even when she’s back to work!) Daily Harvest offers “one-step prep” in nourishing harvest bowls, unique smoothie creations, power-packed soups and more. This gift box is perfect for the new mom as she can choose which flavors will suit her palate best.

5.) Yeti Rambler Tumbler with Magslider Lid

One thing every mom can probably agree on is that it’s really hard to finish a cup of coffee while it’s still hot. You might be lucky if you even finish half before it requires a zap in the microwave. Why? Well, babies need their mamas, which means they come first. The coffee will have to wait. But what if the new mom could do everything she needed to for her baby all while keeping her coffee hot? Luckily, the Yeti Rambler is able to keep coffee hot all morning long. So whether she needs it in different places around the house or driving around town or to work, she can be confident that she’ll have delicious hot coffee at her fingertips.

6.) Oakmont Engraved Stainless Steel Wine Glasses

Mama needs a date night, for that we can be pretty sure! But let’s face it, it can be really hard to get out as a couple when you have a new baby. Let’s hope they can make it happen, but in the meantime, you can help the new parents jumpstart their date night IN with these personalized stainless steel wine glasses. Luckily, once babies are on a schedule, they go to bed early. Once that happens, it’s the perfect time for the new mom and dad to enjoy a glass of wine together. We love that these aren’t glass, because they’re just as perfect for backyard patio time as they are cozied up by the fireplace.
